Whether you're hosting a holiday feast or looking to elevate everyday meals, this vegan cranberry sauce offers a perfect balance of tart and sweet that complements a wide range of dishes. Embrace the tradition of cranberry sauce with this plant-based twist that will leave your taste buds craving for more.

  • 12 ounces (about 3 cups) fresh cranberries, washed and drained

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 cup water

  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice (from about 1-2 oranges)

  • 1 teaspoon orange zest

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves (optional)

1. Rinse and Drain Cranberries:

  • Start by washing the fresh cranberries in cold water, and then drain them well.

2. Combine Ingredients:

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the washed cranberries, granulated sugar, water, fresh orange juice, orange zest, and the cinnamon stick. You can also add ground cloves for extra flavor, if desired.

3. Cook the Cranberries:

  • Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally.

4. Simmer:

  • Once it comes to a boil, reduce the heat to medium-low and let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens. Stir occasionally.

5. Adjust Consistency:

  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, you can let it simmer a bit longer. If you want a thinner sauce, you can add a little more water.

6. Remove from Heat:

  • Once the cranberry sauce reaches your desired consistency, remove it from the heat.

7. Cool and Serve:

  • Allow the cranberry sauce to cool to room temperature. It will continue to thicken as it cools.

  • Remove the cinnamon stick (if used) before serving.

  • Serve your homemade Vegan Cranberry Sauce as a delightful condiment alongside your favorite dishes.

This Vegan Cranberry Sauce is a delicious and tangy addition to your holiday table. It's perfect for pairing with roast vegetables, tofu, seitan, or as a delightful spread for sandwiches and wraps. Enjoy the burst of flavor and vibrant color that this sauce brings to your meals!
