The Compost Committee of the Bennington County Solid Waste Alliance feels excited to work with groups, businesses, events, and communities like yours to become Near Zero Waste.
We work with local event organizers including the Southwestern Vermont Chamber of Commerce. Together, we helped divert 88% of the waste from Garlic Town from the landfill. At this one-day event we helped turn nearly 4,000 pounds of waste into compost!
Several other local events are following in their wake, first encouraging, and then requiring the use of certified compostable serviceware to minimize the use of plastics, simplify sorting trash, and making almost all waste safely compostable.
We have partnered with Green Paper Products to make it easy for you to obtain all the compostable serviceware you need (cups, plates, food containers, bags, flatware, etc.) while assuring that it will not contaminate compost with PFAs. All items on this page are accepted as commercial compost by Cassella’s composting facility.
